Revised Doll Wishlist!

I'm just up bored and sick, so I've revised my doll wishlist!

Oh my god, it's boys! Boy dolls on my wishlist?!?! Anyway, this was a limited headsculpt from the company SNG Switch. The first one is the more 'open-eyed' version of the sculpt and its name is Milwha, and the second one is the 'dreaming' version, whose name is Hahwha. I really can't decide which one I like better and would be happy owning both. I would love to put them both on Volks SDGr bodies; I've handled one in person and they're really great. But they cost lots and lots of money for a body, and so I may go the Spiritdoll route (I like those bodies, too). In my opinion, they would make marvelous twins. I would REALLY like it if they were twins. xD They also remind me of Suzaku and Lelouch of Code Geass (respectively) and that doesn't hurt. Although I would really envision Suzaku's face with a more 'I'm a little bitch' expression.

Shiny Fairy May (picture by Turbow on Flickr). I really adore Bluefairy's way of sculpting and I don't like the bodies/headsculpts any less through the owner pics. Hana's eyes started to bother me so little mature May is now my goal. She embodies a character named Tryphosa, the curious and intelligent daughter of a classics professor at Kumiho's college. I'm going to start saving for her after Christmas. :3

An Unoa Zero. Big boobs, too? Jeez, really breaking the mold on my usual tastes. Yeah yeah, I know. She'll be the cost of a small house. But she'll be worth it. Someday I will own a Latea/Marion/Sleeping Faceplates/boobs conglomeration. She may have alternate personalities? I'm not really sure what I want to do with her character yet. Image courtesy of dressmaker Silver Butterfly.

Iplehouse SID Soo is next on the list. I've decided to reshell Remiel. T_T I adore the modded Supia Roda head I have for her, but she's a very realistic character and the sculpt just never seemed to perfectly reflect her strong badassery. This sculpt, though young looking, has potential and I don't think she'll look shabby sporting Remiel's ice blue eyes and unnatural flaming red hair.

Actually, that's all for now. I eventually want a Minifee, but the more I look at all of them the more I get confused as to which one I'd really want. I think I really just enjoy the A-line body so much, and want to have a character to go with it lol. I could go Celty-style and make it headless, but then the elastic would show, wouldn't it? XD

Part of it may be my satisfaction in just owning my Volks Kurumi. She's really everything I want in an adorable girl doll (except she's SD10 size, which is hard to carry around! Hence Tryphosa) so I think the need to get others has been severely curtailed. Now I'm wanting for those mature girls, and boys, as you can see! Oh my, I'm going down a dark path. XD;

Tinier Me Dream Selfy

... So so awesome. An hour was fruitfully wasted.

That's Kumiho's human form, if anyone was wondering who that random Selfy is. XD They need more black hairstyles that - dare I say - aren't lolita-esque. I want one to match her black Leeke wig!

This is a character of mine called Kiyo! She's not a tomboy, but she's not really that interested in frilly things, either.

Akine's BJD Designs and Photography, More Flickr Uploading!

DSC_1447

I like this method of uploading better. :3 I can grab HTML code from Flickr and get big, luscious photos that I love while still not having to save them to my hard drive first!

Anyway, enough with my Flickr experimentation. :3 I want to feature Akine, a very talented BJD dress designer and photographer. This is my favorite of her photographs - the dolls are lovely and impeccably styled, and I really do adore fringe-banged wigs.

DSC_2863

This is a look at her lovely workspace, and just take a gander if you will at her AMAZING sewing machine! I would give a limb for a beautiful piece of machinery such as that! On the right you can see one of her lovely dresses.

you are my best love

As you can see, her photography has a lovely, fresh air to it. Please go check out her Flickr Gallery!

Shining demon by Madam Page, Flickr Uploading!

Originally uploaded by Madam Page

So, I no longer have to steal photos from Flickr from photographers I like and then link them. Flickr has this new 'post to blog' thing in Share This Photo. I really like this idea, but.... I'm not such a fan of its execution. I can't post multiple photos from this wonderful photographer in one blog post (from what I can tell) and the entries that I post to the blog from Flickr will always have to be edited and touched up like this one. I will probably only use this feature for photographers and other artists from whom I can only obtain art via Flickr.

In any case, I love Madam Page's lovely soft photographs. They are mostly darker than this one, but all the same quality in composition and all with the same ingenious lighting. Her dolls seem very human, all staring out at you from their shadowy dream worlds or having a moment with themselves to which you were a fortunate witness. Please head over to her gallery and admire more of her gorgeous work!

Sabrinaheaven on Flickr (Or Candy House Designs)

Sabrinaheaven on Flickr designs lovely, colorful lolita outfits for girls. Her photographs match the bubbly tone of the clothing she makes, and it's truly "eye candy" to look at! You can see Sabrinaheaven's cheerful and well-designed outfits on her Flickr Photostream. The outfits are available on Y!J via auction. Let me know if you have one, I'd love to see other people's photographs of her work!

Estebebe's Faceups

I really love Estebebe's delicate and simplistic faceups. They lend an air of dreaminess to each doll and they are never too overdone or too heavy, always imparting fairy-like grace to their subjects. Fittingly, many of the faceups in their catalog include Bluefairy dolls; I believe that these dolls sport the look best, already having very light default faceups, and the beautiful work just complements the sculpts so well.

This is my personal favorite doll in their collection, a Tiny Fairy Kyle in White Skin.

Here's a White Skin Louis who looks just wonderful in his minimalistic dress.
Please head over to their website to find more examples of their work, both on Bluefairy dolls and other sculpts.

Not only is Estebebe extremely talented, but I believe that the studio really cares about their work. I found this at the bottom of the makeup order form:

We provide a 2 year free of charge after service makeup for makeup that has been damaged.

- Conditions for free of charge after service: Those who received makeup services from ESTEBEBE

(Includes those who ordered after August, 2009.)

- After service period: 2 years after delivery of finished head

- Conditions of free of charge after service:

Heads that have scratch marks, or heads that have had their makeup damaged over time.

They really seem to care about their customers and the dolls with which they are entrusted. If any of you have had experiences with Estebebe feel free to comment on your experience, and if you plan to use their services in the future, what do you have in mind?

da-bu-di-bu-da's/Oso Polar's Pictures

So, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. I wanted to start out with a gloriously beautiful feature, and so I will... !

da-bu-di-bu-da's DA gallery is filled with beautifully light pictures of herself, her dolls, and her other assorted creations. I first found her as Oso Polar on Flickr, and I can never forget her beautifully styled and photographed Zaoll Luv, pictured above. The style of her photography is what really draws me in with its light and effortless delicacy. Her subjects seem to live in their own peaceful, quirky, handmade world that is never disturbed by worry or trouble.

Please visit her pages and support her with your adoration of her fine art - I know you love it. You can't not.

Stress Photoshoot

This is the second installment of my joint project with Angeldolls' Xynsta. Since we live 3,000 miles away from one another, we figured it'd be cool to do collaborative shoots around the same theme, and put them side-by-side to create an interesting contrast of ideas. Here, our theme was Stress.

Xynsta's model: Bluefairy Shiny Fairy May in School Uniform
My model: Kumiho, a Volks Kurumi from Dolpa 16, clothes by me

Broken Layout Fail

So, my layout broke and my hiatus was very very extended. Class and work did it to me. Ironically, I'll probably blog more during this school year, as evinced by my ridiculous activity the month school ended. XD

【Megurine Luka】 secret

I know I haven't posted in a while, but my life has been in an intense state of upheaval lately, and I haven't remembered to update. T_T As an apology, here's the song that's become my new earworm. I love the video that goes with it, though the entire thing just doesn't compare to Just Be Friends.

I think Luka Megurine is my favorite Vocaloid. XD

Dolls and Lingerie - Definitely NSFW

Okay, so just in case you didn't see the title, again, this is NOT SAFE FOR WORK! XD Don't let your coworkers think you're a creeper!

So, in case you were wondering where this came from all of a sudden, I want to tell you all that I work at Victoria's Secret. It's a place where I have to stare at panties and bras all day, and, of course, we have lingerie. I've always admired lingerie, even though I'm sure a lot of it is uncomfortable to wear, and I think it's definitely a fun piece of clothing that can be made into a work of high art, complimenting the female form without obscuring much of anything.

Iplehouse has recently opened a new line of dolls called E.I.D., a tall, mature, curvy, and not-as-stick-thin line of doll which is supposed to call to mind the beautiful grown woman. I think they accomplish this beautifully, as you can see from this picture of Asa. All of the E.I.Ds are lingerie-clad in the promo pictures, and while I was staring at lingerie at work today, I wondered what everyone thought of this trend.

Dollmore has long been offering lingerie with their basic dolls, and they have a new set of 3 limiteds (pictured) that come with lingerie. Individual doll owners also sometimes shoot their dolls dressed in lingerie.

Take this beautiful MNF Lishe for example. Her owner, yennaibi, made this set for her, and I think it looks really professional and cute! (Check out yennaibi's flickr in the link, she has some other great photography and sewing projects!)

You can also order lingerie custom made (or by auction, etc.). Linnabeti made this set, and you can commission her for sets like these on Den of Angels.

To be honest, I always felt a bit strange about dolls in lingerie, because lingerie has always had that sexuality and erotic connotation about it, and no matter how human they look, dolls are still dolls. But it's like anything else - if you find beauty in something, photograph it! I don't find as much beauty in eroticism, but for some people the two words are synonymous, and in some lingerie photographs eroticism isn't the central theme. I think it's possible to take the sexuality out of the naked form, like in artistic nude pictures, so why not do the same with an only-slightly-clothed form? And doll lingerie takes some really amazing skill and craftsmanship, so on that merit alone perhaps photographs are warranted.

Does it lend a human air to the dolls? Do you get it just because it's pretty and you wouldn't want to wear it yourself? Do you like the art form of lingerie? Do you just like that style of photography (pin up, artistic almost-nude, etc.)? Tell me why you choose to make, photograph, or look at photographs of dolls in lingerie!

Photoshoot Happiness

These are all pictures of my best friend, Justice M. I really love how they turned out and I'm glad that I got these shots, because she's so pretty and I don't have a whole lot of pictures of her. This also marks my first real shoot with a person as opposed to a doll, and I really cherish this whole experience! These photographs are extra special to me. I hope you like them, too! More can be found on my DA or my flickr account. :3 I'm kind of failing at updating the Tumblr lol.

I'm Dying a Little Inside...

...every day I don't have an Olympus PEN camera.

It's odd, because I'd sworn off Olympuses after the disaster that was my first and only point and shoot camera. I went straight to the K-10 after that piece of crap and we've been happily married ever since... I forgot about my ex until it showed up with a whole new style.

Look at this film-camera esque beauty that is the 4/3 camera. I'm waiting for it to go down in price, which means that I'll be waiting a year or two to get this damn looker in my life. I already have it all planned out: I'll save enough for the camera (I want the EP2... because it has 2 more art filters than the others, and yes, I want those please), and then slowly but surely acquire the viewfinder, the leather case I want, the strap, and maybe even some lenses... oh the horizon looks so attractive, so enticing, and yet, so very far away. T_T UGH new camera love hurts so badly.

Beckie Blackout

I love the catchy name! I found her on her Deviantart when she posted a pic of this beautiful boy, but to be honest it really wasn't her ball jointed doll photography that blew me away when I saw the rest of her gallery....

It was these beautiful photos of still life in nature that really made me gasp! I don't even like normal still life photography and I immediately DevWatched her. I can't get enough of her unique take on focus and her great use of colors and blur. There are some magnificent black and white photos on there as well. She has a super-professional portfolio as well that doesn't feature any of her bjd photography, but it's very polished and easy to use.

Please please please take a look at her stuff! It's a feast for your eyes. I promise they'll be full after you look. *holds out cookie*

Hiatus Lift and Collaboration!

Click to see a bigger version! I've been a long time admirer of the Angeldolls UK blog, and Xynsta and I had been in contact via Flickr. We decided to do a collaboration since we both had blogs about BJDs, featuring our individual photos following a theme!

Our theme this month was 'happiness'. Xynsta had this to say about her photos:

"Angel is a sweet little girl with a fancy imagination. She is happy to play with her toys by herself, but enjoys playing with others too. After a fun-filled day, she likes to lay on her bed and daydream about happy things. :3"
For me, my take is this: "Kumiho wakes up to a day and plans what exactly she is going to do. Even if none of those things come true, the planning is what makes her happy and so she's happy to wake up every morning, if just for the fantasy of what she will do later."
I'm really happy with how these turned out! Xynsta's photography is beautifully glowing as usual, and I think my darker tones actually go well with her lighter ones! It really seems like the two exist in kind of the same world, just far away from one another.... which is technically true, heh. I think I'm a little rusty from being away for so long.
In any case, please enjoy these collaborations! There are more to come - monthly collabs planned. :3

Hiatus

Sorry for the lack of updates! I've started a new job, so I won't be able to post for a while (too tired). I'll start up when my schedule's more regular. Look forward to a feature with Angel Dolls Blog, from the UK, near the end of the month!

Coldplay - Life In Technicolor ii (HD)

I've been listening to Coldplay more and more! I used to think there was only 1 version of 'Life in Technicolor'... well, no more! I love this music video. These kinds of dolls/marionettes creep me out usually, so I was a little scared of the video at first, but the coolness factor overwhelmed me. And the little girl with the glasses is just adorable. So go watch and enjoy. :3 Even if you don't like Coldplay, I bet you'll be entertained.

This is totally related to this blog. xD They have the initials... CP. So yeah. That makes this legit.

Shiny Fairy by Bluefairy

So, you know how I only like 1 tiny doll? (Volks Yo-SD Kanon)...

Well Bluefairy just went and shot me in the heart. XD I need a Shiny Fairy someday. I would absolutely die if they made a Shiny Fairy Olive... right now they have Hana (this one), May, and Benjamin.

Oh the tiny agony.

Icchaeyo's Deviantart and Faceups

So...here I am, featuring yet another Shushu. What? Did you ask if she'd modified? Why yes, yes she is!! Just look at her beautiful slitted eyes!

And that faceup! So gorgeous! Whose doll could that be?
I answer, "Who else's? Icchaeyo's!"
+++
Yeah, sorry for the dumb little intro there. X3 To be honest, I'm always struck a little dumb by her masterful creations. She modified this Shushu by herself (as well as an open-eyed faceplate). Besides the Shushu, she has a gorgeous Unoa Lusis, a CP El and Woosoo, and she used to have a Domuya Fin.

^ Here's her gorgeous Woosoo!
She does her own faceup work and (as mentioned) modifications, and on top of all of it... just look at her gorgeous photography and illustration work!

I very much admire Icchaeyo. In fact, she is and always will be one of my favorite faceup artists/photographers. I am continually inspired by her and I absolutely adore her dolls. Her knack for muted colors, softer focus, sunlight-bleached environs and mysteriously beautiful figures always amazes me and I can't stop looking at it! Please go appreciate her gorgeous work at her Deviantart, Flickr and Blog.

EDIT: I used the word 'gorgeous' 3 times in this one little post. XD I really am losing it...

DenaliWind's Myliex (Yes, another Shushu feature)

I've just caught the Shushu bug, haven't I? In any case, this Shushu, as you can see, is particularly unique and therefore it justifies yet another Shushu feature. :3

This foresty little beauty is created by DenaliWind, and she has her own Livejournal 'The Daily Doll' where she posts more pictures of this doll (Myliex) and her other doll, Goat.

Her sensitive, natural photography and choice of simple, painting-like background to feature this unusual beauty marks her images as quality. The doll's concept and the execution of the concept is very clever, and those little circles on the faceup (by DenaliWind herself) really make the picture in my opinion.
